Ohio schools prepare for house bill 8
Ohio schools prepare for house bill 8 in a recent letter sent out to Athens City Schools students, staff and parents the Athens City School District said “The State of Ohio has passed two bills which will result in changes to our day-to-day practices.” The first is Senate Bill 104, which includes House Bill 183, signed into law in December which has been known commonly as the bathroom bill. The law requires students and staff at K-12 schools to use the restroom associated with the sex assigned at birth. The Athens City School District said they will continue to support its students and its staff but the law does require that once it goes into effect the district will be required to report to parents if a student is “LGBTQ+”.
